The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Imo State chapter, has on Thursday, commenced what it described as “fact finding and familiarization tour”, in all the local government areas across the three senatorial districts, in Imo State.
The visit, which is aimed at reaching all political wards across Imo State, with the view to ascertainning the problems and prospects of the party at all levels, began in Owerri Zone, with the visit to Ahiazu Mbaise LGA by the Owerri Zone Visitation Panel of APGA.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the visitation panel, Hon. Cosmos Onyeakalam, who spoke on behalf of the APGA state chairman in Imo state, Hon. John Iwuala, described the meeting as very strategic. In his words: “this meeting is as important as a Congress”.
Hon. Onyeakalam informed that the current APGA leadership in the state is very much keen in carrying everybody along. He said this is necessary in order to heal the wounds of aggrieved members in the 2019 election, as a result of some anomalies noticed in the party.
The visitation panel chided the APGA leadership in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA for not doing enough in sensitizing the APGA members in the local government as well as other members of the public on the need for all to come together towards building a formidable APGA in the local government area and state at large.
In his reaction, the Ahiazu Mbaise APGA chairman, Chief Humphrey Anumodu, enumerated some of the challenges of the party in the area to include: lack of financial commitment of members, among others.
Chief Anumodu expressed thanks to the duo of Barr. Steve Nwoga and Hon. Nduka V. A. Anyanwu, for their financial and material supports to Ahiazu Mbaise APGA. According to him, the party would have suffered greatly without the duo of Barr. Steve Nwoga and Hon. Nduka V. A. Anyanwu.
The Visitation Panel therefore recommended that all members, especially the ward EXCOs of APGA must obtain their new membership card and obtain a copy of the party’s constitution.
Hon. Nduka V. A. Anyanwu, a member of the Visitation Panel and a chieftain of the party in Ahiazu Mbaise, admonished all APGA members to see themselves as partners in progress. He charged the party members to ensue selfish interests, hatred, rancor and bitterness, as they work hard for the overall good of the party.
The members of the Visitation Panel who are APGA leaders drawn from Owerri Zone include: Hon. Cosmos Onyeakalam, leader of the panel and High Chief Edison Ihedioha, who is a former Chairman of Ezinihite LGA.
Others are: Hon. Nduka V. A. Anyanwu, Hon. Mrs Grace Ugo, Hon. Kelechi Soribe and Hon. Njemanze O.
The panel is expected to head to Ezinihite Mbaise LGA in continuation of the visit. Other local government areas in Owerri Zone will be visited on the 16th, 18th, 20th and 23rd of February, 2021.
